The Champions League group stage is heating up as several exciting matches occurred this week.
In a surprising upset, Shakhtar Donetsk defeated La Liga champions Barcelona 1-0. Danylo Sikan’s header in the 40th minute was the deciding factor, giving Shakhtar their first win of the group stage. Barcelona, despite dominating possession, failed to find a way past Shakhtar’s resilient defence.
Paris Saint-Germain also suffered a defeat, losing 2-1 to Milan. Olivier Giroud’s header early in the second half turned the game around for Milan after PSG had taken an early lead. Rafael Leão’s acrobatic equaliser just minutes before Giroud’s goal had set the stage for a thrilling finish.
Manchester City and RB Leipzig secured their place in the knockout stage with comfortable wins. City defeated Young Boys 3-0, while Leipzig beat Red Star Belgrade 2-1.
Lazio kept their hopes of reaching the knockout stage alive with a 1-0 win over Feyenoord. Ciro Immobile’s first-half goal was enough to secure the victory for Lazio, who moved up to second place in Group E.
